Suwannee River Rendezvous in Mayo, FL is one of our go to campgrounds. It sits on the banks of the historic Suwannee River and is a cool mix of good old fashioned campground and RV resort. The campground has its own spring, Convict Spring and is extremely dog friendly. Don’t forget to the pigeon races and chicken poo bingo and Saturdays. They are a hoot. Moonshine Creek Campground in Balsam, NC is a campground, not a RV resort and that is just how the owners want it. It’s the kind of place where you spend your time sitting around and nice, warm creek-side campfire while the children roast marsh mellows. So what is a Bobil you ask?

First things first, it’s pronounced “boobeel” not like “bobble” Bobil is the Norwegian word for camper. Elin is from Norway and while she has lived most of her life in America, she is still a proud Norwegian and still has family and friends there. When we first purchased our camper, like most people do these days when they have such an event in their lives, she posted pictures on Facebook to share the happy news with all of our friends. There were many comments and congratulations and her former sister-in-law commented in Norwegian that we had gotten a bobil.
